Abby’s Pasta With Meat Sauce

Pasta with meat sauce has always been a go-to meal in my house. It is a super easy and delicious meal you can make with simple ingredients. Sometimes, meat sauce made with only ground beef can be dry and bland. That is why my family uses a meatloaf mix consisting of beef, veal, and pork which you can purchase premixed or mix yourself.The mixture of meat makes the sauce super flavorful. I chose to pair this sauce with homemade linguini, but any type of pasta will work. With this recipe for pasta with meat sauce, you are sure to have the perfect family meal in no time!


Olive oil
2 large white onions, diced
4 tablespoons tomato paste
2 pounds meatloaf mix (pork, veal, beef)
6 pieces bacon, finely chopped
6 cloves garlic, mashed
48 ounces diced tomatoes
8 oz whole white mushrooms, sliced
2 pounds pasta of choice
4 tablespoons fresh basil, finely chopped
parmesan cheese
salt and pepper

In a large sauce pan, heat enough olive oil to coat the pan. Add the onion and tomato paste and cook until soft and translucent. Add meatloaf mix and continue to stir until almost cooked through. Add the bacon and cook until completely done (No pink). Pour in the diced tomatoes and mashed garlic.

In a small saucepan, a drizzle of oil. Add mushrooms and sauté until soft and have reached desired tenderness. Stir into sauce.

Season sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer. Sprinkle with basil and stir to combine. Cover and simmer until ready to serve.

Meanwhile, cook pasta to al dente according to package directions. Drain and pour pasta into the sauce. Toss to combine, sprinkle with parmesan cheese, and enjoy!
