This herbed basmati rice recipe is hands down my favorite way to cook rice. Basmati rice is used often in Indian cuisine. This particular side dish is perfect to pair with a very flavorful main dish to balance out the flavors. I have used this recipe multiple times and have enjoyed it every time. This rice is shown in my Indian Food Feast post. It is a very simple yet versatile and delicious recipe.
The original recipe can be found in the Barefoot Contessa At Home cookbook
1 cup uncooked white basmati rice
1 3/4 cups water
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons minced fresh flat leaf parsley
1tablespoon minced fresh dill
1 tablespoon minced fresh scallions
1 pinch black pepper
Mix the rice, water, salt, and butter in a small saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, stir once, and cover.
2. Simmer for 15 minutes. Note: you may need to keep the pot halfway of the burner if it starts to boil over. Remove from the heat and let sit for 5 more minutes, keeping the pot tightly covered.
3. Add the parsley, dill, scallions, and pepper. Mix to combine and serve.
